Early Aviation In Albany

Albany’s aviation story reaches back to the early twentieth century, before the airport facility visitors know today.

1929

The Historic Hangar

The hangar provides a lasting connection to the early years of local aviation.

1931

Airport Dedication

The City of Albany records 1931 as the year Albany Municipal Airport was dedicated.

1998

Historic Recognition

The airport was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. The City identifies it as Oregon’s first airport on the register and Albany’s fourth National Historic District.
